From the start, Maleficent is a Disney movie we’ve been looking forward to, after all, how many Disney villains can boast a move to live action and in an entire movie about themselves? Then, Angelina Jolie got involved, and Paul Dini and Linda Woolverton (both veteran animation writers) signed on to write, and we decided to treat our hopes as more than unfounded.

Jolie won’t be the only member of the Jolie-Pitt family to appear in the film, however. We found out this summer that four-year-old Vivienne Jolie-Pitt would be playing a young princess Aurora (the full grown role will go to Elle Fanning). But like most families with young kids, if you give one of them a treat, you better be prepared to treat the rest, too. Fair’s fair!

It’s perfectly appropriate, really, that Jolie’s kids would be getting some screen time in Maleficent, since, according to Jolie herself, they pushed her to take the role. The only question is who eight-year-old Pax and seven-year-old Zahara will be playing. According to US Weekly’s source, they’ll have smaller roles than Vivienne, with no lines. There was going to be a part for movie veteran Shiloh (who appeared as a baby in Brad Pitt‘s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but “she was bored and not in the mood during the day her part was supposed to happen, so she ended up not being in the film.”

Let that be a sobering lesson: if just hanging around with mom and dad means “getting a cameo in a Hollywood blockbuster,” then the children of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are already cooler than all of us at less than ten years old.
