In September we got the news that Jaimie Alexander had been injured on the set of Thor 2, but just as quickly we received, from the actress herself, reassurances that she was recovering just fine and had sustained no permanent damage. She talked about how she got hurt, and the full extent of her injuries to the New York Post recently, however, and it turns out she was out of the shoot for a month!

It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae…

I’m really hoping that’s some kind of misprint or missspeak there, and that she chipped her 11th vertebrae, not eleven vertebrae… Eleven seems like a lot of vertebrae to chip… but then I’m no medical professional, as our masthead can easily show. Alexander says in addition to those injuries she knocked her left shoulder “out of place,” and tore her right rhomboid muscle. The injuries took her off the set for a month, but only a month. “I heal really fast,” she told the Post, and she’s even graciously accepting being teased about staircases.

She added, “I’m walking in heels again though, so that’s a good sign,” which probably means that Jaimie Alexander, less than two months after a very serious back injury, walks in heels better than I do completely healthy. In all seriousness, however, I’m glad she’s made a full and swift recovery, and not just because Sif was probably my favorite thing in Thor and I can’t wait to see if there’s more of her in Thor 2.

She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
