In early December when the new top-level .xxx domains launch, PETA plans to launch a porn site using the domain in order to promote animal rights and raise the awareness of veganism through a mix of pornography and footage of animal suffering. Lindsay Rajt, associate director of campaigns for PETA, explains:
“We’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of people, some of whom will be shocked by graphic images that maybe they didn’t anticipate seeing when they went to the PETA triple-X site.”
While most non-pornographic outlets are probably frantically attempting to scoop up all of the .xxx domains related to their brand in order to park on them to prevent any mischievous activity, PETA seems to be embracing the chance to host pornography on a PETA-branded .xxx domain.
Though it hasn’t been confirmed, one can assume PETA is going for the all-encompassing “peta.xxx” domain. Rajt explains further:
“We anticipated that this new triple-X domain name would be a hot topic and we immediately decided to use it and take advantage of it to try to promote the animal rights message.”
Along with the pornography, PETA will also host the aforementioned footage of animal suffering — undercover videos were mentioned — along with their risqué ad campaigns, which one can easily view a host of with a simple Google Image search of the term “peta.” The site will also offer links to vegan and vegetarian recipes, for when you’re hungry or you’re horny from the porn, and disgusted from the animal suffering footage.
Rajt explains that when people first visit the site, they’ll find the porn, but as they go a little deeper into the site, they’ll be confronted with the animal suffering footage. We’ll be able to see what PETA has planned when early December rolls around and the .xxx domains are launched. Maybe people won’t be mad at PETA all the time if the new planned porn site aids them in their solitary adventures.
