Rupert Grint Might Be Our Favorite Harry Potter Alumnus, Is Starring in a Sitcom Where He’s a Comic Geek Superhero

Might be our favorite Harry Potter alumnus—that’s a hard thing to be when Maggie Smith exists. But still. A+ role choice here, Rupert.

The show in question is Super Clyde, a CBS sitcom by Greg Garcia, who also created Raising Hope and My Name is Earl. In it, Grint will play “meek, unassuming fast-food worker” Clyde, a

well-meaning and sweet yet slightly neurotic guy who never feels like he really fits in. The avid comic book reader considers himself a borderline agoraphobic with mild to severe anxiety issues who wishes he were a super hero himself. When Clyde inherits a $100,000 a month inheritance from his long-dead eccentric Uncle Bill, he decides that the cash will be his secret super power and will use it only for good and reward the good-hearted.

I’d like to think that’s what I’d do if I suddenly inherited $100,000 a month, but I’d probably just buy a house and fill it with movie props, a projection room, tons of comfortable couches, and super-fast wifi. A regular geektopia. This Clyde is a better person than I.

And because I’m riding high on Ron Weasley love at the moment (moreso than normal, I mean) here’s the recently released trailer for Into the White, a World War II drama where Grint plays one of a pair of British soldiers stranded in the snowy wilderness and captured by also-stranded German soldiers. I think it looks pretty good. Hopefully between Clyde and this film, out in limited release April 12th, Grint’s career will blossom along with Daniel Radcliffe‘s and Emma Watson‘s. And if they happen to have cameos in Super Clyde, well, I won’t complain.
