It’s one thing to have sex with a robot unknowingly, ala Battlestar Galactica, but would you get down with an electronic partner willingly? According to a new survey, one in ten Americans would. Are you one of them?

Huffington Post and YouGov conducted a survey asking 1000 respondents all sorts of robot-related questions. Would you like to have a robot as a servant? Forty-two percent said no. Would you let a robot care for an aging relative or friend? Fifty-eight percent said no. But would they have sex with a robot?

Just 9% said yes while 81% said no and 11% couldn’t decide. Or perhaps that 11% were too busy trying to figure out how it would work.

Huffington Post writes, “Sex with a robot raises some thorny ethical questions — including whether a married person who hooked up with a robot would be guilty of infidelity. What did the poll find? Forty-two percent of Americans indicated that such a dalliance would constitute cheating. Another 31 percent said it wouldn’t, and 26 percent said they were unsure. Respondents under age 30 were almost as likely to say it wouldn’t be cheating (34 percent) as that it would (36 percent). Americans over age 65 were far more likely to say that it would, by a 52 percent to 24 percent margin.”

That being said, 18% of respondents think robots you can have sex with will be available by the year 2030. I’m sorry, but I’m too busy concerning myself with an AI takeover to think about shagging a hot bot. You?
