It’s official –  Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s Locke & Key is going to be a movie. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (of Star Trek fame) and Bobby Cohen will produce for Universal.

I’m giddy. Although we found out last November the horror comic was most likely going to get a movie deal, this is great news.

Previously, Locke & Key was turned into a Mark Romanek-directed pilot starring Miranda Otto, Nick Stahl, Sarah Bolger, and Jesse McCartney. Kurtzman and Orci were executive producers for that project and when it didn’t pan out, they didn’t let go.

Ted Adams, the CEO and publisher of IDW Publishing, the company behind the comic, also will produce,” writes The Hollywood Reporter. “Locke & Key tells of three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts. They soon discover the house has magical keys that give the bearers a vast array of powers and abilities. However, a devious creature is also after the keys, forcing the family to make a stand against evil.”

The previous news on this film front was that Locke & Key wouldn’t just be a standalone movie, but a trilogy. Although Orci said on Twitter around that time the trilogy rumor was true, it wasn’t mentioned in this latest report. Hill and Rodriguez’s comic is currently ramping up for a thrilling climax.

On twitter yesterday, fellow nerd journalist Josh Wigler suggested Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams for Kinsey Locke and it got me thinking how the rest of the HBO cast could fit into the film. So here we go:

Daenerys = Nina
Jaime = Rendell
Gendry = Tyler
Arya = Kinsey
Rickon = Bode
Joffrey = Dodge
Ramsey = Sam

Yes, I know, completely unrealistic, but a girl can dream, can’t she?
