Because there is nearly a LEGO set for every situation, there will now be a set of minifigures devoted to the Great Britain Olympic team. The set of nine will be available starting in July — only in the United Kingdom. So if, like Pokémon, you’ve got to catch ’em all, it looks like you will have to pay international shipping if you don’t live in an area where they’re available. If not, it’ll just be nine pieces missing from your otherwise perfect set. If you can stand it.
According to the press release, LEGO is the #1 selling toy in the UK market so while it makes sense that those of us across the pond wouldn’t be seeing LEGO versions of their Olympic team it also makes sense why they would. If it’s the top toy, the London 2012 Olympic games are a hard opportunity for revenue to pass.
Each of the nine darling will cost £1.99 a pop and be sold at various retailers. It’s hard to say if they’ll be able to strike the poses shown in the pictures but my money is on that they’ll be traditional minifigs rather than some kind of convoluted piece with the ability to achieve unique poses. After all, £1.99 doesn’t exactly compute to extravagance.

- LEGO marijuana art show is pretty cool, chill
- Short PBS documentary on LEGO is even better
- But the best is this LEGO Sopwith Camel
