No matter how I feel about a film, I can always count on Honest Trailers to help me see that film in a new way. While I already liked A Wrinkle in Time, despite it uneven tone, there’s one thing that I never really thought about when I saw it in theaters, but can totally think about now that it’s available on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD…
… this would be a great movie to watch high.
No, seriously. Those visuals are bananas. Then again, I kind of already felt like I was high. I mean, Giant Oprah? Leaf Reese Witherspoon? Just about every environment the characters were in? Come to think of it, one doesn’t need the help of any substances. Just watch the movie as-is!
Where I totally take issue with the folks at Honest Trailers is their seeming annoyance at Mindy Kaling’s Mrs. Who. She was actually my favorite of the three “Mrs.” Despite not having any words of her own, she felt like the most grounded and comforting of the three. If I were a kid traveling through the universe, I’d totally want to be traveling with her. And all her quotes.
Still, Honest Trailers gets it right most of the time. Some of my favorite takeaways:
Meg’s father was kidnapped by Drake and trapped in the video for “Hotline Bling.” (Accurate)
Meg from A Wrinkle in Time and Meg from Family Guy are basically the same person. Shut up, Meg!
“More A-List stars dressed like J-Pop idols than an anime-themed Met Gala.” They are not wrong.
I think they could’ve come up with way better stars for the end of this Honest Trailer than “The following lines from the movie that work better as motivational Instagram posts.” It’s like they kinda just gave up toward the end there.
Wanna give it a whirl? Who do you think this movie stars (in the style of Honest Trailers, obvi)? Share with us below!
