Tell Jabba I’ve got his money.

We’ve heard plenty of names fly for the role of Han Solo in his standalone Star Wars spinoff, and we haven’t exactly been thrilled about all of them—though there was that one who kind of killed it. Really, the rumored possibilities were just a fraction of the reportedly 2,500 actors in consideration for the part, and Phil Lord and Chris Miller have now narrowed that field down to their final choice: Alden Ehrenreich, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ehrenreich was rumored to be in the lead back in April, but now THR says that the actor, who recently appeared in the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar!, is in final negotiations to take the part. That’s not exactly a done deal, but we have to imagine it would take some kind of Hutt-level business contract to cause anyone to turn down the chance to play Han Solo. It does, however, have to be intimidating to take the role of such an iconic character played so perfectly by someone like Harrison Ford.

He’s in good hands with The LEGO Movie‘s Lord and Miller as the creative team, though. The movie, which tells the story of Han Solo’s life before he got mixed up with any hokey religions and ancient weapons, is set to be the second Star Wars anthology film when it debuts in 2018.
