AMC Is Down As ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Tickets Go On Sale and Marvel Fans Are Rightfully Angry

May the powers that be be with us all.

This morning, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe logged onto their AMC accounts to try and reserve their seats for the next big movie to come from their franchise. With the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just a month away, scoring prime tickets are now the main priority for fans. So of course the AMC app refuses to let anyone really get their seats as soon as the ticket announcement was made.

When you pair that with people heading to Fandango to take the seats at the AMC theater, those with the stubs program are just kind of sitting and waiting for AMC to figure itself out. (You can link your AMC stubs to your Fandango account, but I haven’t yet learned how that works with the AMC entourage program so my apologies.)

Fans are … well, frustrated. I’ve been trying since 9 AM ET to get my ticket and it has not worked out for me in the slightest.

And it’s not just that frantic first rush to get our tickets that is causing the upset. It has been two hours and people are still struggling.

Now, the other ticket websites aren’t exactly perfect either. Everyone is sort of messing up the ticket buying purchase near everywhere right now and it begs the question: why haven’t we moved past this problem?

When will it be easy to get tickets?

If you remember way back when, the ticket process for Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke systems and left fans frantic in their search for a seat. That trend has continued ever since and while it’s gotten a bit better, there are still problems with going online to reserve your seats.

You’d think that after this has happened for Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home that the servers would be prepared for this kind of influx from a Marvel ticket situation, or a proper queueing set-up the way some cons and concert sites have done. And yet here we are again, all still twiddling our thumbs trying to get the seats.

And the real kicker is if we did try and just buy them and then return the tickets to purchase them again through our AMC Stubs program, there probably would be some issue and you’d lose out on money.

So instead, the AMC primary users are just sort of … out of luck right now. Considering the promises that the company makes in regards to the ticket buying experience for those on the Stubs program, you’d think that they’d maybe be better at this. Instead, we’re all still trying to just reserve a ticket. This is OUR Multiverse of Madness.
