America Visualized With Cell Phone Data [Video]

The Connected States of America is a joint project between MIT’s SENSEable City Lab and the AT&T Research Lab that visualizes mobile phone data to show how Americans in different communities communicate. According to researchers, investigating the way people interact reveals interesting facets about how people utilize space. The constant fluctuation of people commuting, migrating, and traveling across the country establishes connections that tend to be dominated by large cities. The social connections that traverse the United States can identify emerging communities.
