Great news for aficionados of tornadoes filled with sharks: Another Sharknado movie is in the works. Variety reports that SyFy and The Asylum are moving forward with yet another Sharknado film, because why not continue the franchise that embraces how utterly ridiculous it is?
It all kicked off in 2013 with a made-for-TV disaster flick about a waterspout that lifts sharks from the ocean and unleashes them onto the unsuspecting residents of Los Angles. It has since spawned a number of sequels, including 2014’s Sharknado 2: The Second One set in New York City, 2015’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! and 2016’s Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.
Tara Reid and Ian Ziering, who play husband and wife in the films, are the most consistent actors to appear in the franchise. A number of celebrities have also popped up for cameos including WWE wrestlers Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Vivica A. Fox, David Hasselhoff, Ne-Yo, Steve Guttenberg and Kelly Rippa. Even with the ironic hype and live tweet parties, however, the films were made for U.S. audiences.
Now, the team behind Sharknado 5 is expanding its reach and will broadcast in more than five countries including the U.K. and Australia. Anthony C. Ferrante is also set to direct. This isn’t surprising considering he took the helm for the first four films as well.
Are you here for this? Which was your favorite celebrity cameo?
