Can you guess who Dave Bautista might be playing?
The actor is keeping himself pretty busy between Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel. We’ll also be seeing him as an assassin in the next Bond film, Spectre. But Latino Review is reporting he’s landed another pretty big role: The Kurgan.
Bautista is going to play the bad ass barbarian role of THE KURGAN in Summit’s Highlander reboot for visual effects artist turned first time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. The original Highlander, released back in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman who, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, is forced to confront one final foe: the Kurgan, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the prize that comes with being the last immortal.
Fans of the original film will recall the role was previously played by the awesome Clancy Brown, oft-inhabitant of the DC animated universe and guest star on The CW’s Flash.
Bautista’s totally going to rock this.
There’s still no word on who’s playing Connor MacLeod for the lead of the film. Ryan Reynolds was previously attached to star, but he left a short while after 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo exited the project. Current director Nicolas-Troyan was the second unit director and visual effects supervisor for Snow White and the Huntsman.
