Adele may have won Album of the Year last night, but in a not-at-all-surprising turn of events, what everyone will really remember from this year’s Grammy Awards was Beyoncé’s performance.
OK, we’ll also probably remember that this was the year of Beyoncé’s Lemonade, which was heralded as a massive artistic achievement, was all anyone could talk about after its debut, and somehow still did not land Beyoncé an Album of the Year Grammy. Not even Adele herself could understand how that happened. Really—snap-a-Grammy-in-half, wonder-aloud-about-it-with-expletives could not understand. It’s fair to say that was all of us.
Solange Knowles had some choice words of her own for the occasion:
Thank you for your well wishes. Gratitude.
If I would’ve gotten to accept this, I would’ve said black girls/women ARE grammys mothafuckaaaa🌹 pic.twitter.com/Pm1LncrIAo— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) February 13, 2017
