Upon hearing that Emilia Clarke in an interview with Daily Star would “love to play James Bond” with Leonardo DiCaprio as her Bond Boy, Rolling Stone took it upon themselves to make a fan trailer of the two. There’s a lot of footage of Clarke’s action role as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys and DiCaprio from The Great Gatsby and though this film is just a dream right now, I really want to see them in a film together now?
#NextBond has brought up a lot of names for taking over Daniel Craig’s role, with Tom Hiddleston apparently in “exclusive talks.” While I adore Hiddleston, he does seem to be a pretty safe choice and I definitely gravitate towards the less “obvious” choices. Idris Elba has long been a fan favorite, Priyanka Chopra voiced interest in the role recently, and holy moly did you see the Gillian Anderson fan trailer? (Ian McKellen jokes it’s “ridiculous” he’s been overlooked for the role.)
While I’m doubtful that the next Bond will be a Jane, I think that the attention and enthusiasm for the possibility of a female Bond is a very exciting thing and more proof that there should be more female-led action movies and franchises (and female action directors)! The rumors that Susanne Bier might direct might direct the next James Bond is definitely good news. What do you think about the Clarke-DiCaprio Bond team?
