Who dares wins, Hiddleston. Who dares wins.

During Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia, Tom Hiddleston was on stage chatting it up with fans (you know, as you do at comic cons). Apparently during the discussion, Hiddleston touched on those possible James Bond rumors that have been swirling about the internet as of late. Unfortunately, Hiddleston’s thoughts on his chances of obtaining the role were none too bright. “I don’t think that announcement is coming,” he said. But, he did acknowledge the strong fan response, saying, “I am very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. Your guess is as good as mine, to be honest.”

That doesn’t exactly shoot down the thoughts, but it doesn’t exactly confirm them either. As with anything concerning a major development, the initial rumors should have been considered just speculation, but honestly, the idea of a Hiddleston Bond (aka Bondleston) seemed just too good to pass up.

Hiddleston cites his work as an MI5 operative in The Night Manager as one of the reasons he’s even being considered for the role, at least by fans. His character has subtle nods to Bond, what with the suits and the martinis, and demonstrate just how well he would fit into the Bond universe. His chances for possibly entering the role may improve if Susanne Bier, who directed The Night Manager, ends up directing the film. Bier’s currently on a shortlist of directors who are being looked at to take on the job.

Buck up, though, Hiddleston. Many of us fans have still got hope! Maybe there’s a surprise announcement call coming down the line. Well, one can hope, can’t they?
