It looks as though Sony is following Microsoft’s suit and offering up a free PlayStation 3 or a free PS Vita with the purchase of a Sony VAIO computer.
Compared to the Microsoft deal that requires one to present some sort of student ID with the purchase, Sony’s deal focuses on college students and faculty, and the range of computers one must purchase to get the free PS3 or Vita is much more limited than the Microsoft deal. Rather than a certain price range, which is what Microsoft’s deal requires, the Sony deal is limited to custom S, T, Z, and L VAIOs, as well as ready-to-ship models.
However, rather than the free PS3 or Vita, you can choose to get $200 knocked off of other PlayStation merchandise (which is listed as “any PlayStation system, accessories, or games”), or get 8 percent knocked off of your new computer’s total price. To activate the deal, simply enter the coupon code at checkout found on the deal page. Easy peasy, if you don’t find buying a VAIO difficult, that is.
