After starring for much of the first season of Jessica Jones and making a brief surprise cameo at the end of Daredevil season two, Carrie-Anne Moss is gearing up to make an appearance in her third superhero show for Marvel and Netflix, reprising her role as Jeri Hogarth in the upcoming Iron Fist series.

For fans of the Iron Fist comic, this won’t necessarily be a surprise–Jeri Hogarth is the genderswapped version of Jeryn Hogarth, a supporting character in the comics who, in addition to being a lawyer, is also the friend of Wendell Rand, father of Danny Rand… a.k.a. Iron Fist.

In a statement for Marvel, head of Marvel television Jeph Loeb and Iron Fist showrunner Scott Buck expressed their excitement over welcoming Moss as Jeri Hogarth to the series. “As Marvel fans know, Hogarth in the comics plays a critical role in the life of Danny Rand so it seems only fitting that Carrie-Anne join in,” said Loeb.

In preparation for the TV show, I recently finished reading Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction’s The Immortal Iron Fist, and the relationship between Danny and Hogarth is pretty prominent there, so I’m hoping that we’ll get to see Jeri take on a similar mentoring of Danny on the show even if it doesn’t look exactly the same as it does in the comics. At the very least, she can help the guy with some smart (and legal) business decisions.
