Gorr the God Butcher and Thor

Check Out Christian Bale’s Gorr in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Legends Figures

It’s a rough world out there right now for Thor fans, as we all await the release of the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. With how we’ve been given barely any sort of information about the movie so far, I can only assume that there’s a reason they’re holding off on the trailer (meaning that it connects to some part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we don’t know yet). But that doesn’t mean we have nothing!

As has been the history since Star Wars’ release of a Boba Fett toy prior to his live-action debut, we have a look at the toys for Thor: Love and Thunder, and while we knew what Chris Hemsworth’s Thor was going to look like in his fourth outing, we also have our first glimpse of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.

According to pictures of Hasbro’s Marvel Legends figures that surfaced on Twitter, Gorr has a bit of a different look than we’re used to from the comics, and it’s not exactly a bad thing. It’s just different from what we know, and it’ll take a bit of getting used to.

His white robe look is vastly different from the black hat and almost naked look that Gorr typically sports, but it isn’t exactly shocking that the Marvel Cinematic Universe changed his look to not be so … well, naked.

Honestly, I’ll miss the almost tattoo look and black cape vibe that Gorr had in the comics, but also, they couldn’t make Christian Bale completely unrecognizable. (Actually, it’s Christian Bale. They surely could have, and he would love it.)

Gorr the Butcher looking ominous

There are also plenty of theories out there about Gorr’s connection to Moon Knight‘s Khonshu and whether or not Gorr the God Butcher will kill him leading up to Thor: Love and Thunder but we don’t know much about his involvement of the series, only now we have an idea of what he looks like.

Does this mean we’ll get a trailer soon?

The problem right now is that everyone is complaining about the lack of a trailer—although it seems the trailer may already be complete. The delay in its release could be due to a number of things, one being that there’s a character in it that we have to wait to meet in the larger MCU or it could be something as simple as trying to keep the energy on both Moon Knight and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness instead of adding Thor: Love and Thunder into the mix.

The release of these Hasbro Marvel Legends figures, though, does give us some information to tide us over until we do finally get a trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, whether that is in the end credits for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (like its own trailer was in the end credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home) or before the movie. We’ll have to wait and see.

At least now though we know what Gorr is going to look like in the next adventure for Thor and director Taika Waititi. He’s not exactly in the black hat with his booty out, but he does have a cool vibe, so I’m intrigued!
