You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here. Fans came, saw, and conquered Comic-Con International 2012 in San Diego but it had to end sometime. The last day at Comic-Con didn’t provide much in the way of big announcements but it did see lots of panels including the last one for Fringe, True Blood, the Venture Bros. and more plus there was a tiny bit of news concerning Mr. Joss Whedon and Ms. Jane Espenson. Hit the jump to find out what you missed Day 4 of Comic-Con.
- As we mentioned, the cast of Fringe made an appearance to promote their final season and look back on their journey. One interesting tidbit, they said the question to why there are no female Observers would be answered. (via THR)
- The True Blood panel included some dancing, some stripped, and some gymnastics apparently. Someone asked Christopher Meloni how this role is different from Detective Stabler on Law & Order: SVU. “It’s much more difficult trying to figure out what is a sex crime on this show,” he said. “I never even heard of a were-panther, so as soon as you accept that in your line of vision, everything opens up for you.” (via Collider)
- Remember when Karl Urban teased Star Trek 2 footage? This is what he gave Comic-Con. Not exactly what we were hoping for, Karl.
- The Venture Bros. crew announced that the animated series would return with its fifth season in early 2013. Check out some ridiculous things io9 asked them, including Doc Hammer’s favorite deli pastry.
This is what Henry Cavill’s Superman costume looks like close up. It’s also the first official poster for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
- The cast of CW’s Arrow did several interviews and in one with Collider, asked about Black Canary. Katie Cassidy, who plays Dinah “Laurel” Lance on the series mentioned that she would love to fight and said, “I think that she does get involved in the action story part of it. As Oliver is out there plotting and fighting crime, she will become a part of it, but as far as becoming a super hero, I don’t know.” Insert sad trombone here.
- Meanwhile, Doctor Who had their big Hall H panel in which they showed several preview clips from upcoming episodes. I thought for sure they’d surprise the audience with new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman at the end but they didn’t. It is the old gang’s last SDCC together though so it’s nice they let them have the spotlight. io9 recaps the entire thing.
- And finally, Joss Whedon is set to guest star in friend and Buffy alum Jane Espenson’s web series Husbands! That’s right. Not direct, star. (via THR)
