Yo, Hugh Jackman: you’ve got some competition.

Since news broke of J.K. Simmons taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon for Justice League, the internet has been aflame with nostalgic regrets regarding his old role as J. Jonah Jameson in the Tobey Maguire-era Spider-Man movies. Well, folks, it’s time to shelve those regrets because Simmons has done what Simmons will do and has set out to really redefine the Commish. Apparently that starts with lifting a hell of a freaking lot and watching your macros, I guess. In an Instagram photo shared by his personal trainer, you can see the shred that now makes up the vast majority of Simmons’ body.

If Simmons can keep the training up, it’s entirely possible he might be able to put Batman out of a job. Heck, I bet at this rate, the Commish might even be able to be Batma… oh. Are we about to see some New 52 Gordon-as-Batman antics here? Hah, no, right? Even that would be one hell of a stretch for the DC Universe… right? Oh, dear.

Anyway. The internet is absolutely loving these Instagram posts, and it’s all for very good reason. And let’s not forget: the man looks great in a suit, too.

Rawr.
