After the announcement of the joyous news that The X-Files would be returning in the form of a six-episode mini-season on FOX starring the original Mulder and Scully, David Duchovny confirmed the return of two additional X-Files alums.
On a recent appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, he said that Mitch Pileggi will be reprising his role as FBI assistant director Walter Skinner, while William B. Davis will be returning as the mysterious ‘Cigarette-Smoking Man.’
From Blastr:
The confirmation fits with a recent comment series creator Chris Carter gave to X-Files News, where he noted he was open to bringing back supporting cast members so long as they fit the narrative of the six-episode mini-season. Oh, and of course if they are actually available and not already working a different gig:
“I have ideas for everyone. Their availability is subject to their regular paying jobs. Of course, I’d like to bring everyone possible back, but it’s who’s going to fit into the story and who’s available.”
It’s awesome to know that this new season of X-Files won’t be a reboot, but a continuation of the story and of the lives of these characters we’ve come to know and love.
