Beachbot was developed by a team from Disney Research Zurich with the aim to create art on a massive scale: according to principal research scientist Paul Beardsley, “The dream is to create huge amazing drawings like the Nazca Lines.” Massive cuteness is just a bonus!

Using Wi-Fi, an inertial measurement unit, and a laser scanner, Beachbot computes a path with which to draw images on reusable natural canvases such as sand. In the future, the team hopes that Beachbot will be able to “see” any picture and then immediately replicate it, so yeah:  look out for your jobs, human animators.
