Elon Musk is back at it again! The real-life Artie Ziff has been on quite a tear this summer from accusing rescue divers of being child molesters to having the world’s worst fan base. He’s been partying so much that even rapper Azealia Banks was like, “dude, calm it down.”
In a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast (why though?), Musk discussed the future of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as other theories of the universe. Rogan then lit a blunt an passed it to Musk, who took a hit. The whole vibe was very “suburban dads smoking weed in the basement before their Rush cover band practice”. The internet quickly responded with a cavalcade of memes making fun of the billionaire:
Congratulations to Elon Musk for being the only person in the world who still manages to look like a huge nerd while smoking a blunt pic.twitter.com/BSNNFlLwZf

Since the news of Musk smoking a blunt went viral, Tesla’s stocks have dropped by 7 percent. And since Musk’s SpaceX has multiple military contracts, the U.S. Air Force will be looking further into Musk’s habits. Marijuana use, while legal in the state of California where the podcast was recorded, is prohibited for people with government security clearance, which Musk has.
Musk’s behavior is also a violation of Tesla company policy, which prohibits the use of illegal drugs. Musk has made himself an easy target through drug use, irresponsible tweeting, and other public snafus. What’s most frustrating about Musk is that, at the end of the day, he is a brilliant mind. He’s got so much going for him, but he is too wrapped up in toxic tech bro culture to see his way through. Men like Musk have the power and the resources to effect positive change in the world, but they’d rather shoot sports cars into space and party at Burning Man than take steps to make the world a better place. In a world where great power comes with great responsibility, Musk has completely abdicated both.
