A couple months back Disney revealed plans to make a live-action Cruella de Vil movie in the style of Maleficent with 50 Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel. The Hollywood Reporter states that Emma Stone is currently in negotiations to play the Disney villainess.

I’m still wondering how they plan to make a puppy-coat villain sympathetic (even Starkid couldn’t do it!), but casting Stone for her origin story sounds like a good first step to making de Vil likable. Notorious dog-lover Emma Stone previously worked at a dog-treat bakery, has her own cute dog, and voiced a dog on Disney Channel. I’m pretty fond of Glenn Close’s Cruella de vil from 1996, but how about you? Can you picture Emma Stone in that big fur coat? More importantly, are they going to get the black and white hair right?
