EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! OK, that’s not the greatest opening sentence ever, but it conveys my point. I’m excited. The first teaser for the upcoming new Star Trek series on CBS All Access was released, and it totally gave me goosebumps. Watch it above!

The first thing I noticed was how similar the vibe of this teaser is to the opening credits of the current iteration of Doctor Who, which just filled me with glee. Instead of the time vortex, we’re zipping past planets and stars, and hopefully the new iteration of this long-running science fiction franchise will fare as well as that one.

Secondly, I’m heartened by the word “new.” Now, my first exposure to Star Trek was watching The Original Series when I was in single-digits. But I became a Trekkie when Star Trek: TNG gave me a series of my own to love. One of my time that gave me new characters and aliens and adventures at which to marvel. I’m so excited not only for the new crew, heroes, villains, and worlds this show promises, but also for the new anthology series format. The Star Trek universe is vast, and we finally have a show that’s going to be equipped to explore it the way it deserves to be explored.

Again, I say EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
