There are some pretty complex mice out there that attempt to be more useful by having a few more buttons, but no one has taken that logic as far as Japan’s Double Research & Development Co. and their Amenbo. The Amenbo base, the palm area, functions like a normal mouse and can be dragged around the mousepad. In addition, each finger gets its own pad that can be moved in any direction and is fitted with a pressure sensor. This crazy five finger mouse could have a whole bunch of applications, but for now the focus is on manipulating 3D CAD data which often requires the use of two mice at the same time. With the Amenbo, CAD engineers could finally manipulate data in 3D and drink coffee at the same time, which would probably do wonders for productivity. Check out a video of the Amenbo in action after the jump.
