The BBC tweeted a photo today revealing that the Doctor Who Christmas Special will be a little more frosty than usual this year, because that rumor about Nick Frost guest starring is completely true! Frost will be joined by Misfits’ Nathan McMullen, and second Doctor progeny Michael Troughton. Frost, like Capaldi, is apparently a big Whovian himself, which is always good news. Here’s Frost’s definitely-not-chilly statement to the BBC:
“I’m so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, I’m such a fan of the show. The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!”
I’m gonna be on Dr. Who!!! Tough keeping that quiet let me tell you. — Nick Frost (@nickjfrost) September 19, 2014
I think it’s pretty rad that we’re going to be seeing second Doctor Patrick Troughton’s son Michael in the episode as well (though it might have been more interesting during Matt Smith’s heavily-Troughton-inspired era). Given that Michael is his father’s biographer and knows a ridiculous amount about Who culture, it will be rad to see what he brings to the series. Plus, he’s loving the current season:
Brilliant Peter…look forward to the rest of the series!

Now if only we could get Simon Pegg to somehow show up again, too…
