Ten years after first being cancelled by Fox, Futurama has again gotten the axe, only this time it’s wielded by Comedy Central. The show’s upcoming seventh season, running June 19th-September 4th, will be its last. Per Deadline, “Comedy Central is planning a slew of online initiatives to mark the end of the series.”

Says executive producer Matt Groening,

“I’m very proud of the upcoming season. If that is indeed the end of Futurama, it’s a fantastic finish to a good, long run.”

You hear that? “If.” I’m not saying the fans are going to be able to bring this one back from the brink of death… but surely it can’t hurt to try, right? After all, the show was already revived once, after Fox stopped making new episodes back in 2003.

Anyway, here’s a trailer for what will probably be Futurama‘s last season. Larry Bird, Dan Castellaneta, Sarah Silverman, George Takei, Adam West, and Burt Ward are set to guest star. Enjoy a very bittersweet two minutes, 59 seconds.
