The first Ghostbusters trailer won’t be here till March, but Mattel already revealed one of the movie’s main baddies at this weekend’s New York Toy Fair.
Toy enthusiast “Pixel Dan” Eardley got a shot of the merchandise in question:
Back in July we learned that the film’s main villain would be named “Rowan” and be played by Neil Casey; and now, at least judging from what fans saw at the Toy Fair last weekend, it appears Rowan is a slightly toothier version of the Ghostbusters’ logo.
Although plenty of Ghostbuster gatekeepers seem to think Rowan demonstrates insufficient originality or scariness, I’m intrigued by this personification of the logo–and besides, when has Ghostbusters ever actually been about horror? This is the franchise that brought us a giant marauding Marshmallow Man, it’s always been way more about silly spoopiness than actual spookiness.
Anyway, what do you guys think of Rowan?
