Australian adolescence is put on full display in a new trailer from indie filmmakers, Oscilloscope Laboratories. The story centers on Greta Driscoll, a girl content with being a wallflower. Her perfect little loser bubble bursts when her parents decide to invite the whole school to her surprise 15th birthday party. Even more terrifying, she’s thrust into a weird, parallel world (outside of her comfort zone) and thus embarks on a journey to find herself.
The film has been described as Wes Anderson meets Lewis Carroll with some Napoleon Dynamite thrown in and I can’t help but agree. This trippy, cool and stunning adventure heads to select U.S. theaters on September 23.  The script was written by actor Matthew Whittet, who previously appeared in Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby, and stars Bethany Whitmore (The Starter Wife, The Family Law). This also marks the feature film debut of director Rosemary Myers, who won the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Seattle International Film Festival according to IndieWire.
Interestingly enough, Oscilloscope was co-founded by the late Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys) and former THINKfilm executive, David Fenkel.
