Disney Legend Glen Keane has been an animator for about four decades. He’s brought characters like Ariel, the Beast, and Pocahontas to life, and watching him sketch his beloved characters in both pencil and 3-D is lovely. His love for these characters and excitement about the new medium will make you nostalgic with the classic Disney spirit. “These are not just drawings, these are real characters,” says Keane, as he discusses channeling childish imagination in his art and “becoming” his characters.
Keane models new tools that allow him to “step into the paper” with virtual reality, as part of The Future of Storytelling festival. Watching him draw in what he describes as a “dance,” is kind of mesmerizing as he meet his creation in life-size.
