Everyone’s favorite angel and demon are returning to Amazon Prime sooner than you think. Fans of Good Omens knew that the show was originally just a six-episode mini-series, but after an incredible reception from critics and audiences, the show has been renewed for a second season. Everyone has been waiting for any news regarding a second season that follows everyone’s favorite angel and demon.
Fans of the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett novel fell in love with the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley’s relationship back in 1990 and have carried a torch ever since. Co-author, Terry Pratchett, died in 2015 and never got to see the mainstream reception and adaptation of his novel.
Earlier this year, the cast of the second season was announced. The plot of this upcoming season is based on notes, rough manuscripts, and late-night conversations for a potential sequel novel for Good Omens that Gaiman and Pratchett worked on. So book and tv show fans have no idea what’s coming next for Aziraphale and Crowley after shirking their responsibilities in heaven and hell, which accidentally leads to the birth of the actual, real-life antichrist. Yes, the antichrist.
Gaiman is returning to Good Omens season 2 as executive producer and co-showrunner along with fellow EP Douglas Mackinnon. They were panel guests at New York’s Comic-Con alongside casr members Rob Wilkins, Maggie Service, Nina Sosanya, and Quelin Sepulveda. At the panel, Gaiman announced that Season 2 will be available Summer of 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.
Those who were unable to attend were able to see the release announcement on Twitter with the show’s new poster. The fandom was quick to point out that the shape of Aziraphale and Crowley’s wings makes a heart, leading to speculation of a romance between Michael Sheen and David Tennant’s characters. The odd-couple dynamic between the two has long enticed book readers and launched a massive TV show-based fandom exploring the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley. (And inspired a few thousand cosplayers.)
