Who among us doesn’t look fondly back at such gems as Google Mini, iGoogle, and of course, Google Video? Ah, the memories! But the good old days are coming to an end as the folks at Google announced today that they would be leading old products such as these out round the barn with a few rounds of buckshot. They’re my apps, Pa. I oughta do it.

A post titled, “Spring cleaning in summer” was found on Google’s official blog today. The post spelled doom for several of Google’s more dated apps and services. On the chopping block are products Google Mini, Google Talk Chatback, Google Video, iGoogle, and the Symbian Search App. These apps will be phased out over the course of the next year or so.

We saw this day coming for Google Video a while back. But Google Mini? How could you, Google? He’s only a child! (Yuck, yuck, yuck). With the end of Google Talk Chatback, we bear witness to the end of an era, the fall of an empire. Fare thee well, oh Chatback, may you join your brethren Aardvark and Fast Flip on the great homepage in the sky.
