Crime. Terrorism. Nuclear war. Cats. There are a lot of things to be scared of in today’s world, especially if you’re a guinea pig. If you’re a pet owner who wants to keep their guinea pig about as safe as any guinea pig has ever been, you might want to consider a set of guinea pig scale mail armor, available right now for purchase on eBay. Redwall historical recreationists may want to take note and start polishing their tiny halberds.

The armor is the legacy of the now dearly departed Lucky the guinea pig, whose owner handmade it for the little guy over a series of weeks. According to the eBay listing:

Is your pet guinea pig tired of wandering around the house unarmored and vulnerable? Do they get picked on by other guinea pigs? Has your guinea pig ever wanted to go with you to a Renaissance Faire but had nothing to wear?
Fear not! A solution is here!
This hand-made scale-mail and tiny steel helmet will keep you guinea pig protected and secure in all situations. The scale-mail is made from polished steel scales and steel rings. It was painstakingly “woven” by me over several weeks in an effort to better prepare my guinea pig Lucky for the dangers of the modern world. The helmet was purchased at a Renaissance Faire later as it was the perfect finishing touch.

While you can’t put a price on pet security,  this suit of armor is currently selling at $435 with more than four days to go on the auction. If that seems a little pricey for a furry friend’s fashion accessory, remember that all the proceeds from the sale will go to Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue, a guinea pig fostering and adoption service in Virginia where Lucky himself hailed from, so you’ll be supporting a good cause with this stylin’ purchase.
