Golfer Makes Hole-In-One, Wins Body Weight In Ham

During the Madrid Masters, Scottish golfer Elliot Saltman managed to get a hole-in-one on the third hole at the El Encin Golf Hotel. For his accomplishment, he recieved much praise and many golf claps. Also, his body weight in ham. Each hole had its own prize for a hole-in-one, some of which included a car or a watch. Saltman had the great (mis)fortune of landing it on the third and winning ham.

Saltman weighs in an at a respectable 235 pounds according to the European Tour media guide. Ironically enough, he says that he has recently been trying to lose weight and almost regrets the progress he’s made so far. The ham, heavily salted and cured, is a delicacy in Spain and is oddly appropriate considering Saltman’s name. His biggest concern at the moment seems to be how exactly he will get the ham home. “I don’t think they’ll let me take that on the plane,” he said in an interview. Despite the great shot, Saltman isn’t doing particularly well overall at 3 over and 14 strokes behind the leader. He has his body weight in ham though, and if that isn’t winning, I don’t know what is.
