Harry Styles and Florence Pugh lying in bed in Don't Worry Darling

Thing We Saw Today: Olivia Wilde Had Nothing But Praise for Florence Pugh, Harry Styles in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ at CinemaCon

Warner Bros. had quite the panel at CinemaCon this year, and one of the titles I’m most excited for is Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. The film stars Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, and Chris Pine, and while I don’t know much about it, I’m incredibly invested because the cast is filled with performers I love. Pair that with the praise that Wilde had for the movie and its stars, and it’s no wonder people like me are excited!

“It’s ambitious, but I think we made something pretty special,” Wilde said on stage, and she went on to give CinemaCon a taste of the movie—and, well, a taste of Harry Styles’ character performing oral sex on Florence Pugh’s character.

Wilde also had some great things to say about her cast. One of the things that baffles me is her praise of Florence Pugh, saying that “you have to see to believe. You’re witnessing the birth of a full-fledged movie star.” To be honest, she’s been a full-fledged movie star, and if it wasn’t Midsommar that tipped that off, it was definitely her Oscar nomination for her work as Amy March in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women or her role as Paige in Fighting With My Family.

I understand what Wilde means, though, and it does make me incredibly excited to see Pugh in Don’t Worry Darling, which is being labeled as a psychological thriller that is “about a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath.” Wilde went on to call Styles a “revelation.” This is the third time we’ve seen Styles acting in a major motion picture, the first being Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and then the second, obviously, being his role as Eros in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, getting to see him shine in Wilde’s film is exciting for fans of the musician.

I cannot wait to see the full trailer and to get thrown into the psychological thriller that is Don’t Worry Darling. And until then, I’ll just think about this Harry Styles and Florence Pugh scene.
