Sometimes we talk about poorly sourced rumors here because they look very, very likely to be true. Sometimes we talk about things that may not be something that Hollywood is officially doing, or will ever officially do, because we very, very much want it to be something that happens.

You know, like Hayley Atwell returning to the nerd world as the lead in the Tomb Raider movie reboot currently in development.

It’s a role that Atwell has expressed intrest in… sort of. In the language of Twitter, anyway. For the past week she’s been regularly retweeting fans endorsing her for the role of Lara Croft.

The tomb raider herself is hopefully returning to the big screen with a reboot, backed by MGM and with writers and a producer attached. Additionally, folks in the production are open about how they’d like this version of the character to follow the recently rebooted video game franchise, not the previous films or games in the series.

Atwell’s Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger was one of my favorite things about it, so I’d love to see the actress tackle the lead role in an action movie, especially one was potentially meaty as the rebooted Lara Croft. Keep your fingers crossed!

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
