During a press conference for the upcoming faultless masterpiece San Andreas, The Rock confirmed that he’ll be returning to the highly successful Fast and the Furious franchise for the as-yet-untitled Furious 8, and said that he and Universal are currently in talks for a spin-off series dedicated exclusively to the Luke Hobbs character. Hopefully, this will happen in it:

The actor explained,

We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.

I have no idea how Hobbs would function outside the chemistry of the rest of the ensemble, but if there’s anything the Fast and the Furious franchise has taught me, it’s that logistics should never discourage you from following an idea through to its most excessive outcome. Let’s celebrate:
