Fox Searchlight’s upcoming release I Origins follows a scientist studying the human eye who has his faith in science called into question. The trailer makes it seem like a moving story based in science and faith, and Fox Searchlight also sent us an exclusive clip. Watch them both and tells us what you think.

In I Origins, Michael Pitt’s character studies the human eye, which is totally unique in every person–so what does he do when he finds a pair of iris patterns that aren’t unique? Not only aren’t they unique, but they’re also identical to those of a woman he once knew. In this clip, Pitt’s character is talking his colleague, played by Brit Marling, about following that lead.

I Origins hits theaters in New York and Los Angeles July 18th with a wider rollout to more cities to follow.
