According to Variety, wizard-for-hire Sir Ian McKellen has joined what is shaping up to be the extremely likable cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast rebeaut. Production will reportedly begin later this year for a March 17, 2017 release date.

Although Disney has showed a hilarious lack of restraint recently for live-action remakes of their classics (Mulan I get, but Winnie the Pooh? Tim Burton Dumbo? Pinocchio??), so far The Beauty and the Beast adaptation seems to be setting itself up for success with some spot-on casting.

That being said, it’s fairly indicative of Hollywood’s attitude towards POC that even a movie where a majority of the characters are household items still features a (so far) all-white cast–hopefully that won’t be an ongoing trend across the upcoming Disney reboots.

What do you think, friends? Ready to be Ian McKellen’s guest?
