A movie so big it needs two holidays.

In keeping with the Independence Day sequel’s insistence on even bigger spaceships than the impractically large ones in the original, here’s an even longer trailer. It’s also appropriately Earth Day today, which means this movie is now basing its marketing around two holidays instead of just one. Bigger is better! More explosions! Pew pew pew!

Like Jeff Goldblum and his character’s perfect lampshading at the end of the trailer, I only mock out of love. So far, this belated sequel looks like a lot of fun and hits all the right nostalgia notes with callbacks to Will Smith’s (sadly missing) character from the original, Brent Spiner as professional alien puppet Dr. Brakish Okun, and wanton destruction of monuments.

If the nostalgia’s hitting you particularly hard, 2oth Century Fox is offering the original on Google Play in an Earth Day promotion for just $0.99, with all net proceeds donated to Earth Day Network. You, too, can help save our planet, but with less green s*** being shot at you and more just spending green to help humans be green.
