The challenges of balancing your pragmatic and spontaneous side in everyday life is the focus of Disney’s newest animated short.

“Inner Workings” is the directing debut of Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph‘s story artist Leo Matsuda, and it looks like a fun combination of CG and traditional hand-drawn animation. Not unlike Inside Out, the short portrays the internal battle between one man’s heart and brain. This struggle doesn’t happen just figuratively though, as his actual organs fight for control.

Will our protagonist listen to his heart and eat pancakes on the beach, or will he be pragmatic and focus on his desk job? We’ll just have to wait and see! The animated shorts are always an exciting part of watching any Disney feature. “Piper,” for example was just as memorable as Finding Dory.  “Inner Workings” opens in front of Moana, which opens today.
