Jared Padalecki (Dean) & Milo Ventimiglia (Jess) Officially Returning to Gilmore Girls Revival

Cue the unnecessary yelling and looming.

Supernatural‘s Jared Padalecki, who you may remember as Rory Gilmore’s tall, shouty high school boyfriend on Gilmore Girls, is officially coming back in the Netflix revival. So is Milo Ventimiglia, who you may remember as Rory’s not-so-tall, less-shouty-but-still-kinda-angry high school boyfriend. Maybe they’ll finally settle their differences? Yeah, I don’t think so, either.

Yes, you will truly get the chance to travel back in time about ten years and relive (or participate in live for the first time) all your Jess/Dean feelings, and we know you have them. We know. (Or you could be a Logan fan, I guess. Is anyone a Logan fan?) Padalecki’s participation has been confirmed, and of course Ventimiglia had to one-up him with a tweet of a script cover (which is how I see it, because I can’t separate reality from TV):

Jess hashtags? Things sure have changed since Gilmore Girls went off the air, which reminds me: some intrepid Internet users noticed that the first page of Ventimiglia’s script is a little transparent, and with a little computer magic:

They were able to uncover some of what the next page says, but you’ll have to Google for yourself to track that down. I’m on strict spoiler watch.

If you’ve been keeping up, you know that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino wanted all of Rory’s exes to return, but she mentioned that one of their storylines had to be cut for budgetary reasons. Luckily, it looks like that was just a single storyline and not the entire return of one of the characters, because along with Matt Czuchry, all of Rory’s major romantic interests are now confirmed to make an appearance in some capacity. (Maybe they had to cut the proto-Logan, Tristan? No major loss there.)

Oh, and Rory’s father, Chris (David Sutcliffe) will also apparently be returning, which had better just be because he’s Rory’s dad, and it would be weird not to have him show up. If it’s for some more dumb love triangle crap, and Lorelai and Luke aren’t already happily married with another kid of their own when the revival starts, I will tear the world apart.

So have it out! Will Dean yell at others’ totally reasonable feelings? Will Jess brood? Will Logan … buy things? Will Rory end up with one of these men? I’m hoping for “no,” but if they take it that route—because this is television—later-years-Jess is my pick. You?
