Whoa! Jimmy Fallon totally mentioned The Mary Sue in his monologue Monday night, (right around 2:10 in this video). We missed it the first time around because when it aired some of us were performing a dramatic reading of a pornographic TMNT fanfiction in Chinatown, then went home and watched Metalocalypse instead. And others of us just moved and have no television.

But there are so much more lady nerds than you think, Jimmy! Unless this is just payback for that time I chased you down the street …

It’s true. In 1999, I chased Jimmy Fallon down the street outside of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. I was waiting for someone with a friend, and 30 Rock was the only place I knew at the time (because of Saturday Night Live). So, Jimmy walks out with his manager, and I turn to my friend, “Is that Jimmy Fallon?” “I don’t know.” “Hi, Jimmy!” Jimmy Fallon turns around: “Hi!”

Figuring I’d never see him again, I knew the next logical thing to do would be to chase him down the block, shouting “Jimmy, wait!” (No, really. I did that.) And rather than run for the hills, he turned around, walked back towards me, and proceeded to give me, this geeky little wannabe, comedy advice for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Jimmy Fallon was unbelievably nice to me, and I am so sorry if I scared the crap out of him that day. And now, I’m so psyched that he made fun of our site in his monologue.

So, while Jimmy seems to have forgotten about most girl nerds, I’m glad he took the time to bestow some wisdom on one of us. Thanks for the shoutout, Jimmy!
