Pajiba reports that according to their sources, Joss Whedon is not only in final talks to direct the Avengers movie, he will also be writing the screenplay, and will be given the opportunity to do a final pass on script for the upcoming Captain America movie.

The nature of Whedon’s script polish (on a screenplay originally written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely) is unknown, but it makes me rest a little easier, since this project has seemed like more of an x-factor than the others.

This writer expresses cautious enthusiasm.  Whedon’s characters and dialogue are always a treat, and his feature film resume includes work on, yes, Titan A.E. and Toy Story.  But we’ve been burned before by his difficulty in crafting endings.

Of course, the real question is when will he have time for Dr. Horrible?  Cameo, anyone?

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
