This latest Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies is, first of all, hilarious. Second, it is absolutely merciless (as it often is) as it rips apart Disney’s apparent big-screen setup for Tail SpinThe Jungle Book. I found myself laughing along going “oh, noooo” in more than a few places, and I am pretty darn sure you will, too. Honestly though, this trailer reminded me that there’s so much more to The Jungle Book than “Bare Necessities,” and I was racking my brain trying to remember the actual plot beyond Mowgli being abandoned by his animal parents over and over and over again. Hell, I forgot that there was another human being in the movie.

The best part about this Honest Trailer are the song parodies. As a kid, even I knew the part with the snake was super creepy, and hearing this parody with lyrics that reflect as much makes me glad. I should note though that this Honest Trailer can’t seem to stop from making the same kind of weird creepy references across the entire length of the video, so if that makes you uncomfortable, consider yourself warned now. That being said, there’s plenty of other things in here to enjoy if you can look past that well-trodden path, such as that entire segment about recycled animation. Apparently a ton of movies like 101 DalmatiansRobin Hood, and The Sword and The Stone lifted animations right out of The Jungle Book. It blew my mind to realize how identical they all were. Go figure.

Anyway, I can’t wait until they do an Honest Trailer for this new Jungle Book coming out and recycle the same jokes and animations in a great big meta joke that threatens to fold the universe in on itself. That came out as facetious, but no, seriously, I think that’d just be grand.
