Can humans and dinosaurs actually co-exist together? We’re going to find out soon as Jurassic World: Dominion is just around the corner. The Jurassic World trilogy kicked off on June 12, 2015, reviving the Jurassic Park franchise. Jurassic Park had laid dormant for nearly 14 years before Jurassic World gave us a fresh cast and story. While it does boast a new cast, Jurassic World is a sequel to Jurassic Park, rather than a spin-off. This has filled the trilogy with plenty of nostalgia and allowed several Jurassic Park actors to reprise their roles.
The trilogy follows Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), who both started out as employees of the dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World. Grady was a trainer of Velociraptors, while Dearing was the park operations manager. Jurassic World saw the fulfillment of John Hammond’s dinosaur amusement park on Isla Nublar. However, when the dinosaurs escaped and started snacking on visitors, Grady and Dearing become an unlikely duo who fought for survival. When the dinosaurs themselves later become threatened in Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, Grady and Dearing had to fight for their own survival, as well as that of the dinosaurs.
Ultimately, in Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, Isla Nublar is completely destroyed. With no home or place to contain the dinosaurs, the situation quickly turns dire. In the end, there are only two choices – let the dinosaurs die or set them free. Once the decision is made to set them free, the choice can’t be undone. The dinosaurs are free to roam the earth without restriction, living right alongside mankind.
When Does Jurassic World: Dominion Release?
The third and final installment of the Jurassic World trilogy, Jurassic World: Dominion, will premiere on June 10, 2022. This is in line with the prior two installments, which both had June releases. Initially, Jurassic World: Dominion had a tentative release date of June 2021, but the pandemic resulted in a year-long delay. The film will see the return of Pratt, Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, BD Wong, Justice Smith, and Omar Sy. Meanwhile, Colin Trevorrow has returned as director and also co-wrote the script with Emily Carmichael.
The year long delay of Jurassic World: Dominion may mean it created more time to enhance the film. With a run time of 2 hours and 26 minutes, Jurassic World: Dominion is the longest film in the trilogy. How this pans out remains to be seen, but what we do know is that Jurassic World: Dominion boasts a unique premise not previously explored in the franchise.
