Justin Bieber Has Opinions on Abortion

If we got angry about this kind of thing we'd be angry all the time

Little known indie musician Justin Bieber recently conducted an interview with Rolling Stone, in which he said some things about abortion (against!) and love (for!). And now people are all up in arms over what this 16-year old boy said. Um, up-in-arms-people? Have you completely forgotten how your brain worked when you were 16 years old? Do you not remember the days of carefree, inconsequential babble, your blissful ignorance concerning sex and relationships, the shocking and harrowing onset of The Pubes? Can’t we take these words with a grain of naive salt? Are you still too angry for all these questions?

Let’s be honest: This interview was conducted to see how life has changed for Bieber since his voice started dropping. But instead, he has taken everything he learned from the Internet and turned this powerful knowledge into opinions. About abortion:

“I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby?” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

Let’s remember, Bieber was only recently a fetus, so that’s why he’s probably against abortion. It’s offensive to him. Because he’s a baby. Maybe Bieber’s been around the block more than the average teenager, but his brain hasn’t developed any more than those belonging to other teenagers. And let’s face it: teenagers know very little about a whole lot when it comes to major pressing life issues. Are they incapable of emotions and heartbreak? Of course not. But when was the last time you asked a teenager, seriously, for their opinions on serious life issues (assuming you’re not a guidance counselor or therapist)?

But speaking of “baby, baby, baby, ohhhhhhh,” Justin Bieber, who is apparently very well-liked by young female types, offers up his wise thoughts on love and sex:

“I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them,” Bieber says. When asked if he believes in abstinence until marriage, Bieber – who is reportedly dating fellow teen star Selena Gomez – seems wary: “I think you should just wait for the person you’re…in love with.”

Which means he probably thinks he’s in love with Selena Gomez and is having sex with her. Otherwise, he just would have said he was saving himself for marriage. Like a Jonas brother.

But, yeah. Let’s not take Justin Bieber too seriously. The abortion views of someone whose voice has only started to change — literally and philisophically — are kind of moot. But good job making headlines, Rolling Stone. I fully support getting the magazine business back on track.
