Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently announced that she composed the theme music for the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider game. She did so in an interview with The Rolling Stone, where she also spoke about motherhood and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ future.

The theme is at once uplifting and haunting, and is perfect for the re-invented Lara Croft. Perhaps most thrilling is how O shared that she doesn’t play video games, yet immediately identified with the young raider. She wanted this song to be reminiscent of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” but with her own personal twist.

Judging by the bits I can hear in the brand new Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer, I’d say she absolutely succeeded.

What do you think of the song, folks?
